Heating

Main thermostat

The main thermostat controls the water supply to the upstairs radiators. It’s on the middle floor, just outside the main kitchen.

It’s WiFi-enabled, so don’t worry if you forget to reset it when you leave — it can be adjusted remotely. If you’re not planning to use upstairs, or it’s warm enough already, just leave it on frost protection. Otherwise set it to whatever’s comfortable.

Ground-floor radiators (Heatzy)

The ground-floor radiators are controlled by Heatzy wall units mounted next to each radiator:

  • Press the check button once to set the radiator to HG (frost protection) mode.
  • Press check repeatedly until the temperature appears to enter normal mode, then adjust as needed.

If a room still feels cool after raising the Heatzy setting, check the radiator’s own built-in dial too — the Heatzy doesn’t always seem able to raise the radiator’s own maximum temperature.

One ground-floor radiator, near the entrance, has a broken control panel of its own, but its Heatzy override still works normally, so it’s usually just left on frost protection.

Bathroom towel rail

In the bathroom, the towel rack doubles as the radiator. 19–20°C keeps it plenty warm; please turn it down to its lowest setting (7°C) before you leave.

This one is also Heatzy-automated — when the room is warm enough, the Heatzy will switch it to HG mode on its own. That’s normal, not a fault.

For extra heat while showering, the towel rail’s own “force air” boost still works manually:

  1. Press the lower-right button to start a burst of full power.
  2. Use +/- to pick a duration, up to 90 minutes.
  3. Press the same button again before the timer runs out to cancel early.

Before you leave

Whichever radiators you’ve adjusted, please turn heating back to frost protection (HG/CF) before you go — see the departure checklist.
